Big applause for Mrs. Doonkeen's kindergarten class at Barnes Elementary! Throughout the year, these little learners have been mastering the basics of reading, writing, and math with dedication and enthusiasm. This month, their learning journey took a wild turn as they dove into the world of zoo animals! From building their very own kindergarten zoo to becoming zookeepers, these young minds have been busy exploring, researching, and expressing their creativity through stories and poems about their favorite furry friends. The excitement reached its peak as the zoo officially opened with the help of Dr. Cobb, Superintendent! The morning kicked off with an official ribbon cutting ceremony, setting the stage for a day filled with wonder and discovery. Guests were treated to presentations by the zookeepers, who shared the fascinating research they've conducted on each animal. Afterward, everyone had the chance to tour the zoo, soaking in the sights and sounds of their kindergarten-created habitat. And what's a zoo visit without a stop at the concession stand? It was a day to remember for these budding zoologists! #mdpurpose #ZooGrandOpening
