Military Cords for our 2024 Graduates. Our Tinker Air Force Base School Liaison office provides purple graduation cords for our military connected seniors to wear at graduation. Any past/present military connected student who attended school while a parent was deployed/active member can receive a purple military cord. Big applause for Mrs. Doonkeen's kindergarten class at Barnes Elementary! Throughout the year, these little learners have been mastering the basics of reading, writing, and math with dedication and enthusiasm. This month, their learning journey took a wild turn as they dove into the world of zoo animals! From building their very own kindergarten zoo to becoming zookeepers, these young minds have been busy exploring, researching, and expressing their creativity through stories and poems about their favorite furry friends. The excitement reached its peak as the zoo officially opened with the help of Dr. Cobb, Superintendent! The morning kicked off with an official ribbon cutting ceremony, setting the stage for a day filled with wonder and discovery. Guests were treated to presentations by the zookeepers, who shared the fascinating research they've conducted on each animal. Afterward, everyone had the chance to tour the zoo, soaking in the sights and sounds of their kindergarten-created habitat. And what's a zoo visit without a stop at the concession stand? Today, our middle schools and high schools were filled with the spirit of champions as we celebrated Special Olympics at the Carl Albert High School Stadium! From the track to the field, these incredible athletes showcased not only their skills but also their unmatched determination and heart. Thank you Rose State College for inviting Mid-Del’s District Mental Health Specialists to join your Mental Health First Aid course today. Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based, early-intervention course that teaches participants about mental health and substance use challenges. Our Director of Counseling and Mental Health, as well as our two Mental Health Support Specialists are in the process of going through instructor training to begin offering Youth Mental Health First Aid within our district next school year to not only our staff, by within our community to better serve our students! Today was a great opportunity to see firsthand how RSC offers their courses and to assist us in planning for next year. Currently serving as an assistant principal at Soldier Creek Elementary, Ms. Brown brings with her a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to nurturing both students and educators. Her leadership qualities and passion for supporting children and teachers make her an exceptional choice for the position. Introducing Mr. Michael Becker as the incoming principal of Barnes Elementary starting from the upcoming school year. Mr. Becker brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as the principal of Del City Elementary for the past six years. Before his tenure at Del City Elementary, he held the position of principal at Townsend Elementary and previously served as an assistant principal at Epperly Heights Elementary. With thirty years of experience in education, all within Mid-Del Schools, Mr. Becker is a seasoned educator dedicated to fostering excellence. We bid a fond farewell to Dr. Tammy Roberson, the current principal of Barnes Elementary, who will be retiring at the end of this school year. #mdpurpose

We are proud to announce that Dr. LaShonda Broiles, Deputy Superintendent of Mid-Del Schools, has been chosen as the recipient of the Teacher Appreciation Foundation's prestigious Diamond Dignity Award. This accolade is part of TAF's 10th Annual Awards program, often dubbed as the 'Grammys' for dignitaries, educators, and support staff within the educational community. She will be recognized formally at an event in July. The Teacher Appreciation Foundation (TAF) actively involves the public in recognizing and appreciating individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication and hard work within the school system. Recipients are selected through community voting, making this award a true reflection of appreciation from those directly impacted by their efforts.
